Tasty Treats from Tree to Table

Fulton’s Pancake House and Sugar Bush likes to share. If this means teaching groups of people how to take sweet liquid gold from the trees and manipulate it in myriad ways to tempt your taste buds, then so be it! This family-operated sugar bush near Pakenham in Mississippi Mills offers a number of packages for group and corporate getaways, one of which is called Tree to Table. The package runs for 2.5 to 3 hours and gives participants a maple culinary country kitchen experience. For example, students from the Cordon Bleu culinary school came by and made maple butter, which formed part of their tasty lunch, and they saw the process of making granulated maple sugar. They tasted maple salad dressings and bread dips. They sampled the sap and learned how it is made into syrup, butter and sugar. The package also includes a guided maple tour, horse-drawn sleigh or wagon ride, cooking with maple (make and taste your own treat!) and a visit to the Gourmet Maple Shoppe. Want to experience this yummy day for yourself and see how you can bring the tree to the table? Check www.fultons.ca or call 613-256-3867.
