Name	Levine Store, c. 1850

Description	The building at 20 Bridge Street is actually a 1987 reconstruction on original footings and according to original design. The first wood-frame building was erected in the 1850s, with the storefront added in 1870. It was destroyed during a fire in 1986. Features of note include the horizontal clapboard with vertical trim at corners and windows and the patterned elliptical stained glass window in the second storey of the false front, which survived the 1986 fire.

Description	Built by one of the earliest settlers in Lanark County, this neoclassical house has had few alterations since it was built in the 1860s. A stone house such as this would have been the second or even third house a pioneering family would have built, replacing much cruder structures made of branches or logs. The Toshack family owed its prosperity to a carding mill they built in the 1820s on the nearby Indian River.

Description	While the magnificent stone bridge over the Rideau on Beckwith Street at the Combined Locks dates back to 1890, this crossing is as old as the settlement of Smiths Falls itself and the canal that sparked the town's early growth.

Description	While construction of the Rideau Canal in the 1820s was intended to provide a secure military supply between Montreal and Kingston in the event the United States attacked Canada again, most people between the Ottawa River and Lake Ontario-including Colonel By of the Royal Engineers-saw its real value in opening up the interior to commerce.

Description	The one room public school located at 270 Cedar Hill Road in Pakenham Township, was built in 1874.

Address	132 Coleman Street, Carleton Place
Description	Built in 1922, this limestone building is the third railway station to serve the Carleton Place community. Typical of stations built in the Ottawa Valley during this period, with deep-set windows, doors, and overhanging roof, it is only one of seven in region to survive demolition after passenger train service ended in the early 1990s. It now houses a daycare centre.

Description	Dr. John King Kelly (1874-1954) was a highly regarded physician in Almonte for 50 years, living in and operating his practice, together with his wife, a nurse, from this house on Little Bridge Street.

Name	Five-Span Stone Bridge
Description	The breathtaking Five-Span Stone Bridge in Pakenham (Mississippi Mills), built in 1903 by Scottish stone masons and restored in 1984, is unique in North America and is believed to be the only one of its kind in the world outside Russia. Five-Span Stone Bridge

Description	This three-storey grist mill on the Indian River was built in 1830 by John Baird, of Scotland. It is better known as the summer home of R. Tait Mackenzie, a 20th-century sculptor, surgeon, and pioneer in physical rehabilitation, who, in 1930 transformed Woodside Mills into a studio and renamed it the Mill of Kintail. Today, the buildings and grounds are operated by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority as an art gallery and museum, with walking trails and picnic areas throughout the property.

Description	In 1819, the Reverend William Bell, the Perth Military Settlement's first minister, solicited and obtained approximately four acres for use as a burying ground.

Description	Following Confederation in 1867, it was important that the new Dominion establish a strong, visible presence across the country, one that would inspire confidence in its citizens. This two-and-one-half storey structure is constructed of New Brunswick red sandstone details and Perth stone atop a Beckwith limestone foundation. The clock tower, manufactured by John Smith and Sons of The Midland Clockworks, Derby, England, was added in 1913. The clock is no longer maintained.

Description	In 1951, after more than fifteen years of political delays and five years of construction, the first 250 developmentally handicapped patients were admitted to the new Ontario Hospital. Built on McEwen's farm on the eastern outskirts of Smiths Falls, it was the largest public works project in the area since construction of the Rideau Canal 120 years before.
