The Good Food Tour expands, new food & drink experiences on the menu

The Good Food Tour in Lanark County is on an edible roll, and ready to hit the ground running with an expansion of the popular food tour. First launched in Almonte in 2017, The Good Food Tour was a finalist for the Ottawa Tourism New Company of the Year Award, and is expanding with additional food and drink experiences in one of Eastern Ontario’s fastest growing communities, Carleton Place.

The new Carleton Place tour, called Bites on Bridge Street, is offered Thursday and Saturday afternoons in downtown Carleton Place, and features a three-hour exploration of Carleton Place’s vibrant and diverse restaurant scene. A visit to Stalwart Brewing Company is on the menu, along with Indian cuisine, French Bistro fare, and high end culinary options that will satisfy everyone’s appetite.

In Almonte, the Downtown Meets Uptown Friday tour invites participants to travel behind the scenes to award-winning edible manufacturers, sample delectable edibles from restaurants, cafes, and more, all dished up in the “friendly town” of Almonte, one of Expedia’s Top 10 Small Towns in Canada to Visit.

Participants in the Downtown Meets Uptown tour will get a behind the scenes look at how Crooked Mile Brewery crafts their British-inspired ales, how the winner of the coveted International Golden Bean Award, Hummingbird Chocolate Factory, produces their flavourful chocolates, how Healthy Food Technologies (HFT) produces low-fat donuts, or how Equator Coffee Roasters concocts their savoury brews.

The Down by the River tour, hosted on Sundays in Almonte, leads participants on an edible exploration through Almonte, while taking in its natural beauty, history, architecture and people during a two-to-three-hour tour featuring stops at six-to-seven establishments.

Along the routes in both Lanark County communities, participants will receive an insider’s take on the colourful local history in two towns that must have been made with walking tours in mind. Charming streets flanked by carefully preserved historic facades, only feet away from the majestic Mississippi River, make for a scenic and appetizing foodie adventure.

Come and explore Almonte and Carleton Place’s foodie experiences and award-winning businesses; bring along your walking shoes, sense of adventure, and appetite! Tours run every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May to October; visit for more details or to purchase your ticket.
